Summerour Lamps is a full service lamp and lighting specialty store that is family owned and operated.  We sell lamps, lampshades, fixtures (both wall mounted sconces and chandeliers), accessories, and various furniture.  We also manufacture lamps and lampshades and can turn almost anything in a lamp.  

We can recover or reline your existing lampshades, have a huge selection of in-stock lampshades, and we can make new lampshades out of our materials or almost any material that you supply.

Founded in 1970, in one room of an old apartment building on the corner of Oakland Avenue and Independence Boulevard.  The first building that greeted you on Independence Boulevard was Summerour Lamps located at 900 East Independence Boulevard.  Ok, one block before the old Original Krispy Kreme on Independence. 

If you have lived in Charlotte over 15 years you may remember this, if not the area now is only a blur as Independence Expressway allows no stops in this stretch of the road.

However, in 1970 the old apartment building became the first Summerour Lamps.  Eventually encompassing the entire building and soon the surrounding three buildings. This was home to Summerour Lamps until 1994 when the state decided to create the wonderful Independence Expressway.  Fifteen years later the project is not quite complete.

After searching for a location that would offer Charlotteans and members of the surrounding communities the greatest convenience the current location was chosen and in 1994 we moved to 2220 Thrift Road.
